General Data Protection Regulation 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation 2018 is a new EU law that came into effect in May 2018,  replacing the Data Protection Act. It’s the biggest overhaul of data protection law for over 25 years, and introduces new requirements for every UK organization handling personal information.
How will this affect us?
We store names and email addresses on computer, for the purpose of sending out our Rowen weekly newsletter.
We store some phone numbers, eg. organizers of events and activities in Rowen Memorial Hall.
We only make phone numbers publicly available when appropriate, eg. Car Boot Sale, contact  such and such on 01492  xxxxx etc.
We send all our group emails as blind copies.
We do not share phone numbers or email addresses.
If Person A asks us for Person B’s phone number or email address, we will ask Person B for their approval first.
We will not add a new name and email address to our list without asking approval, ie. new subscribers will have to opt in.
We would welcome your comments and suggestions.
