Huw Tom Upland Walk from Penmaenmawr to Rowen

Huw Tom Upland Walk from Penmaenmawr to Rowen, 6 miles, 10km.  The walk starts at New York Cottages (single storey building)  on the main road, Penmaenmawr LL34 6NP.

Getting to the start of the walk.
Option 1, by bus from Rowen

Car parking in Rowen across the road from the flagpole LL32 8YA.
Rowen public toilets are now closed.

Important note… Re the advice in the Conwy Council walk leaflet, we do not recommend that you leave your car at Penmaenmawr, intending to travel by bus from Rowen back to Conwy, and then to Penmaenmawr at the end of your walk.  There is no afternoon bus from Rowen!
Monday to Saturday, we recommend that you park in Rowen, travel by No. 19 bus at 08:06 from Rowen to Conwy Rail Station, arriving at 08:34, and then by no. 5 bus at 08:53 to Penmaenmawr Library, from the same bus stop, arriving at 09:08  and then walk back to Rowen.
Sundays   No early morning bus from Rowen. 

Option 2, shared cars.
Park in Rowen on roadside opposite the flagpole at LL32 8YA.
Share car to Fernbrook Road Car Park, Penmaenmawr LL34 6BA (9 miles).   Walk past the library onto the main road.
Turn left and walk to New York Cottages.

The leaflet was published in 2009.  Rowen’s shop is now the popular  malwen cafe, open at weekends.  Ysgol Rowen has closed.
The Ty Gwyn pub in Rowen is reopening with new tenants soon.  Watch this space for updated info.

Penmaenmawr Museum has moved from New York Cottages to the Old Post Office.

A Co-op store has opened next to New York Cottages, useful for stocking up with food for the walk.
